Rouhani urges Judiciary to safeguard freedom of speech

The Iranian president in a letter said he expects the Judiciary to safeguard freedom of speech within the framework of the Constitution.

Writing to Majlis Deputy Speaker Ali Motahari in response to his plea over his canceled speech in Mashhad, Hassan Rouhani said a Judiciary report on how the case was handled is necessary to “hearten people”, ISNA reported.

Rouhani also extended orders to the ministries of interior and justice to cooperate in dealing with the case.
